Heavy traffic, no place to park, earthquake, flood, taxes due, in-laws arriving today, overdrawn, missed the bus, just got invaded..
Sometimes when you turn on your Mac, you can‘t help saying to yourself, “Boy do I feel like Laura Palmer today.”
Just then the sounds of birds surrounds you and your eyes focus on a beautiful sunset shining from the screen of your Mac. You are no longer in your office but, rather, relaxing on the bank of a small serene lake; fresh spring water washes at your feet. You begin to unwind. You begin to relax. Your mind clears and by the time the music fades, you are once again in command, tightly grasping the reins of your life and destiny.
Oh boy! Was that great? Or was that just some awesome Zen moment… No! It was LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!
The default animation file is called “StartupAnim”, and should be located in the System Folder. However, any old PICS (animation) file will do. Most animation packages allow you to export to a PICS file (finally a use for that all important feature!).
For that full multi-media exprerience, choose a sound ('snd ') resource from any file that contains one.
p.s. PICS files draw one PICT resource at a time, starting with id=128 and increasing sequentially. Lights, Camera, Action! will play a sound with the same id number as the PICT currently being displayed. You can use ResEdit to add more sounds to your animation if you wish.
p.p.s. Sounds in animations created with Studio/1 are recognized, however they do not follow the same format as described above.
QuickTime support coming soon to a digital screen near you.
